When I launched into the adventure in Bordighera I was convinced it was a good project. I wanted my centre to adopt the natural treatment methods my father had taught me, using herbs in conjunction with a healthy diet. However, in order to do this I had to find the right people with whom to achieve my goals. Many of the collaborators who worked with me at that time and to whom I am linked by a strong and close friendship, still work with me in Melezzole to this day.

The first of these is Pier Roberto Merani, who was a young graduate doctor when we worked in Bordighera and is now medical director of the Marc Mességué Health Center. He is from Umbria and as well as an excellent cardiologist, is an expert in herbs and a loyal friend. I would never have been able to conceive my work without him; I am a herbalist, I know all about herbs and how to exploit their properties, that’s my job. When people meet me, many call me doctor, but I always reply that I am «not even a nurse» because I’m not a doctor and would never assume a role that is not mine.
Merani is my right-hand man; I need his professional support to assess whether or not patients can cope with our treatments. It is therefore fundamental for patients to undergo all the tests necessary and be supervised by a doctor, as well as myself, for the entire duration of the programme. In this way, patients who choose our treatments feel safe and protected and have the confirmation of our professionalism.
